i’m a US citizen visiting the UK for 6 months. can i go to NL for the weekend during this time?
Basically, I came to the UK without applying for visitor visas, I bought a ticket and immigration authorities stamped my passport for 6 months. Originally I had plotted all the time staying in England. But now my birthday is coming up and my friend who is a citizen of the United Kingdom, wants to take me to the Netherlands for my birthday, only this weekend. Can I go? I’ll take advice. I just need some guidance. Dread is something incorrect, and always cut my UK holiday. Thank you very much, who knows.

I wouldn’t chance it if I were you. they may just send you sraight back to the states.
I may be incorrect but US citizens usually can only stay out of the country for 90 days without a proper visa.
I have stayed out of the country for over 1 1/2 years in Hungary but they let me slide because my husband is a dual citizen and I am as excellent as a Hungarian citizen in their eyes.Every country is different but unless you are legally married, you may get a surprize at the passport control.
My older sister was dating a Canadian and he over stayed in the states.she went up to Canada to live with him for a year and when they tried to re-enter the US, they wouldn’t let him into the states and since she over stayed, they wouldn’t let her into Canada.
they parted at the boarder and it really messed them up.
They couldn’t see each other for over 6 months and the relationship went sour.
You should be OK – Canada, NZ, Australia, and US all usually get 6 months – if you leave, it’s possible they will give you another 6 months on re-entry. It’s also possible (although unlikely) that they will question you to prove you’ve got means to support yourself / prove you’re not working illegally etc, but so far, you’ve done nothing incorrect (6 months stamped in your passport – you’re excellent for six months).
