I am a British citizen, married to live in America (permanent resident) is a U.S. citizen. We travel to England (surprised with our children), and 2 weeks vacation and passport control. I have to go through the British line to my own people, when my wife and my children (American passports, as well) through the EU’s third line? I hope that we can all go through together, whether we need all the EU or the EU’s external policy. If you have excellent advice or similar experiences? Thank you!

Yes, You go through the UK/EEC line and your wife and kids, they go through as ALIENS!
If your children are young and your wife needs you too, the passport control are usually helpful and don’t mind the family all going through the Alien route. Unless you get what we call a ‘jobsworth’ .
Your family will have to fill out the visitors visas here, these forms are nearly always handed out on the plane though. So, don’t forget your pen.
By the way. YOU are still British. You are on HOLIDAY not vacation!
Get dual nationality for your brood! The kids might be grateful of it so that they can have EEC passports in the future. Who knows? the way the world is going!
